Living Around Electricity
Electricity is the most powerful hazard in which we come into contact
with on an everyday basis. In fact, we love the comforts and luxuries
which electricity affords us, but in a moments time it can also become
harmful and deadly.
It is easier to prevent electrical shock than it is to treat it. Here
are just a few precautionary rules which reduce the chance for harm
considerably.
- Cover all electrical sockets.
To a small child an electrical outlet is a fascinating hole in the wall,
just right for poking. Socket covers are inexpensive and invaluable.
- Never Climb trees around power lines.
- Never use hair dryers , radios or any electrical appliance around bath
tubs or showers.
- Avoid downed power lines at all costs.
If someone does come into contact with a wire , they must be freed from
contact as soon as possible. Use a stick, rope, coat or other dry
nonconductor of electricity.
- No kite flying around power lines.
